Very creepy and very dark. But creepy and dark in such a bleak and banal environment, both physically and emotionally, that the denouement does really sneak up on you. Also, a quick and engrossing read, which I appreciate. Now I'm going to take a long hot shower.

I am almost halfway through and still can't find the plot. I wanted to like this book based on the prose but it couldn't cover the lack of story.
