"I'm not someone who knows a whole lot about contentment; my default settings tend more toward striving and mild panic." If Elizabeth Bard and I knew each other in real life, we would be BFFs. Over this past weekend, I read her follow up book to Lunch in Paris and really enjoyed it. At times funny and at other times heart wrenching as she describes with great honesty her struggle to bond with her son, all ends well as Elizabeth and her husband recreate and adjust their life from bustling Paris to a a small village in Provence. An excellent read.

I loved Lunch in Paris and I loved Picnic in Provence. I can't decide where I want to live more, Paris or Cereste! Just like in LiP, PiP has tons of great recipes. I have made her lentil dish from LiP dozens of times and it's one of my favorites, and there are many I can't wait to try from the new book.

Too much emphasis in what is wrong with the rest of the world's diet instead of just celebrating the way she was able to live in Provence.

I enjoyed the floaty writing about Provence, but didn’t enjoy the thralls about feeling like a failed mother, and the approval of an eating disorder.
