"Некоторые семьи очень непохожи на другие, они слишком особенные"
Очень занятно часть текста написана от лица истеричного девятилетнего мальчика, а в остальном неплохая история о том, что в каждой избушке свои погремушки, а в некоторых семьях кое-кто так заврался, что родственники махнули рукой, а посторонним и вовсе без поллитры не разобраться.

A very complicated story. I liked it for its difference, and the same tale being told from so many different perspectives. Louis is...disturbing. When the end finally came, I was satisfied. So that moved it from 3 stars to 4.

Saw the movie first and then borrowed the book from the library. The book makes more sense than the movie. The characters are, of course, fleshed out but their interactions make more sense too. The movie left too many questions unanswered for me. Of course Jamie Dornan makes any movie worth watching but in truth I'd stick with the book. It's worth reading, especially if you saw the movie first.

I really enjoyed this book. It was intriguing, it was weird, it was creepy, and it was enjoyable. I wanted to keep reading the book, and although I felt certain plot elements were predictable, I still found myself surprised by some plots points within the book; both by unexpected developments, and the lack of developments that I fully expected to transpire.

The suspense is a slow burn that slowly rises throughout the novel, keeping your interest and keeping you entertained. I realize those mean the same thing, I'm not eloquent, I write this without correcting anything and just say YAY! It was good. And someone can write better than me.

I finished reading this book about a week ago. It was different, disturbing, a little sad, impressive and very engaging. I really couldn't put it down (except to actually get some sleep and some food in my stomach, because it's annoyingly necessary), and I enjoyed it very much. Been a while since I read a thriller but I really enjoyed this incursion into the human mind.

Loved the alternating POVs between Louis and his doctor and Jensen's prose is lovely.
