Technically I read the webtoon before this was published, but this is easy way to mark as read.

SpoilerI didn’t really know how to rate this.
One one hand I thought art style was beautiful and I liked how each god was a color and I did laugh out loud a few times.
But the main relationship irks me a lot
I understand that it is a hades and Persephone retelling and all but why did Persephone have to be so baby like? It literally feels like this grown man is hitting on a child. Which I know she technically is not but she doesn’t act very mature either so it feels weird
Idk. It wasn’t bad by any means but I don’t like relationships with a dynamic so… iffy.

Such a promising start to a Hades and Persephone retelling 👀 I was worried this would be overhyped, but I really enjoyed it. The arts colorful and well-done, the story has a nice balance of humor and drama, and Persephone is charming. Definitely keep the content warnings in mind before picking up (and the author does an excellent job making you aware of cw)

no rating (at least for now) I loved this introduction to the series. The art is incredibly beautiful. I want to buy prints of some of the images and hang them on my wall. I am loving the characters, especially Artemis and Hades. Though Hera made a very small appearance, It appears like she will be a "good" character, which is refreshing after all the evil Hera takes I've watched/read. A small critique - Persphone is characterized as the "young, innocent, naive, girl who moves to the big city and is incredibly hot but doesn't know it". She is oversexualized and infantilized simultaneously - gives me a bit of an ick. Hoping her characterization moves away from that.

For now, I'm not sure what to rate the novel, I loved reading it but It was so short. I didn't get enough. I wish the volume was doubled. Season 1 is over 1000 pages according to storygraph/goodreads, and 380 pages felt like nothing. I'm going to continue with w/ the series as the editions come out in print. looking forwards to volume 2 in july :)

Wow! A graphic novel so addicting that I whipped out my dusted Webtoon app after reading this in one sitting.
I knew this comic was very famous and always was on Webtoon's no.1 list, but I've never click on it or give it a try, until they published this in physical form, and when I saw the pink and blue cover in my local bookstore I knew I just HAD to get it. I didn't know why I haven't read it until now, since Greek mythologies and especially the story between Hades and Persephone always interest me, but I'm glad I finally did.

This was a modern adaptation that done well. I knew the actual history behind Hades and Persephone was stereotypically kinda toxic and dealt with a lot of subjects that we deemed 'problematic' nowadays, like kidnapping, non-consentual relationship, and older/younger dynamic etc. I think this version updated the myth in a tasteful and meaningful way. The comic still had a darker tone and many of the heavier subjects (such as sexual assault and trauma, so please check trigger warnings if you'd like), but the issues that discussed in the story actually was well-handled and I could tell the author put care into their storytelling.

Hades and Persephone were also depicted with care, like they were characters that got fully flushed out, with their own pain and happiness like real people would to be (even tho they were gods lol). Giving their age differences, I'm so happy that Persephone was not the helpless poor damsel that so many previous versions portrayed her to be, and Hades was not creepy and predatory either.

I am really loving this story. I will now binge read the rest on the app and wait for the next part to come out.
