Write My Name Across the Sky by Barbara O'Neal

This is a wonderful, compelling story of three strong, creative women dealing with all sorts of twists and turns in their lives. Part of me wanted to stay with them forever; sipping wine in the greenhouse, wandering the streets of NYC, eating Willow's homemade soup, and being mothered by Auntie Gloria. And yes, I was a bit scared of Sam. ;) But beyond all that, the rest of me was anxious to see how all the different issues resolved themselves. I love a book that sweeps me up and makes me a part of it. And this did exactly that.

I listened to the audio version and the three narrators were terrific.

I've enjoyed another book by this author so I waned to give this a try. It was just okay, unfortunately.

Deserves more than 5 stars! I’m a sucker for multiple POVs and that was done so well in this one! I loved the anime references, the music, the art, and all of the characters!

There are journey books and there are destination books, and this one is a journey book: I enjoyed the time I spent with these characters a whole lot, and they show a whole lot of emotional truth. The destination? Less satisfying.

To put it another way, I enjoyed the characters and their interactions and the setting of the book, but the plot disappointed me. I think it did its job of throwing the characters together in testing times, but then the author didn't quite know what to do with it and it felt like it was hand-waved away, and everything was somehow happily ever after. I liked where the characters ended up (especially in the epilogue), but the way they got there didn't feel as real as that, and it distracted me by feeling unreal.

I'm not sad that I read it, but I am disappointed, because… it feels so close to being a great book, but ends up as a good book instead. (And I really hope this doesn't say more about me than the author and the book, but… that's always the risk when reviewing.)

This book was such a let down. There was so much build up surrounding the stolen art/forgery and then it was wrapped up in one page with a perfect little bow. The two sisters stories felt like they were rushed to finish as well. I really enjoyed this book until the quick ending. It was as if the author got tired of writing the story. It’s unfortunate because it started off so promising.
