This was kinda cute and I think it had a lot of potential. I really like how the story started and the whole set up with Espen living alone in “his” village. I wish this would have played a bigger part. Like e.g. that we actually see them interacting with the humans or maybe even that the humans acknowledge that Espen is a shifter and maybe they could have tried helping Arvid about intruders.
Besides that I wish their relationship had more time. I don’t mind insta-love, if they would have been fated mates but since they are not, everything moved way to fast for me.
One the one hand I kind of understand Arvids need to mate, I mean Espen is the first friendly alpha he came across. On the other hand though, mating in Omegaverse is usually for life, so it’s a very big decision to make and I just wish there would have been at least a few days for them to get to know each other better.
I still enjoyed this and would like to read more of the author.

Blown Away is a short novella between a bear shifter and a blue bird shifter.
While these two being met with a rescue in the forest and the somewhat dystopian vibes of bio-D/s and omegaverse is a good set up, I think I came in with different expectations than what I got. I expected more sweetness between the two, maybe even some instalove due to the length? That is not what I really got here, although the epilogue was sweet.
I really struggled with the sort endgame disagreement between Espen and Arvid. Arvid is The fact that Arvid had to apologize for a very justified trauma response and guardedness because poor alpha got his feelings hurt was just… a lot for me. None of it good.

saved from six alphas trying to essentially claim him so they can rape him and force him to be their mate because he’s a coveted omega, and he’s been on the run from alphas in general for 15 years, never even having a home. Espen is AFFRONTED when Arvid expects the worst from the alpha who only saved him hours ago, considering he has 15 years worth of just that same shitty behavior to back up his claims.endemictoearth's review

These loosely connected novellas in this world of shifters with alpha dominants and omega submissives sometimes need a bit more backstory/plot than they’re given. I can see how this world is the same as The Bear Claw, and this is a little less fraught, but . . . I think I would have liked some more . . . something.
