I don't understand classics sometimes. This was boring. Could have been written by a ninth grader. Like idk why people are moved by this?

Beautiful, moving and debilitating. I seldom feel that authors convey heartbreak in all of its visceral, irrational and throat-catching emptiness but Gibran executes this incredibly and left me broken by the end. His prose can speak for himself;

Raise your head and let me look at you, my beloved; open your lips and let me hear your voice. Speak to me! Will you remember me after this tempest has sunk the ship of our love? Will you hear the whispering of my wings in the silence of the night? Will you hear my spirit fluttering over you? Will you listen to my sighs? Will you see my shadow approach with the shadows of dusk and disappear with the flush of dawn? Tell me, my beloved, what will you be after having been magic ray to my eyes, sweet song to my ears, and wings to my soul? What will you be?"

Learing these words, my heart melted, and I answered her, " I will be as you want me to be, my beloved."
