If the premise of this book sounds interesting to you I would say to give it a try. You will not be left better or worse off for having read it, and it's a fun palate cleanser between more serious books. The characters are static, but the journey is fun and has perfectly placed dark humor. Parts of this book seem like an unpolished first draft, while others are beautifully written. Definitely worth a shot.

I really like it! It's def a work made by someone who loves the original horror classics but is willing to put a twist on them to make the stories more impactful. I wish the characters were more like a family, though. When bad stuff starts happening, I really wanted them to be more supportive of each other, but they dove right into fighting, and it wears on you after awhile. So... not found family, but it's a fun time!

Final Girl Support Group works on many levels. It’s a feminist reframing of horror tropes. It’s a love letter to every Final Girl. It’s a protest to a culture of violence and dehumanization. It’s also a very good thriller. The only reasons it’s not rated higher is because it could’ve been improved by a more diverse lens of womanhood (all of our protagonists are white) and beyond our POV character, the others were hard to get a full read on until the end. The ending though is Top Notch. If the premise is at all appealing, this is worth the read!!

good but i cannot picture someone who isn’t a huge horror fan enjoying it tbh. they wouldn’t understand the joy of all of the references

I think it would have been a little better with a female author.

this was my second time trying to finish this after dnf-ing back in 2021 and still wasn't good. wanted to drop it at exactly the same place i did back then, which was around the 50% done mark when the whole lynne's old letters shenanigans start happening. i was gonna give it 2 stars but i bumped it up to 3 solely because i still regularly think about marilyn washing michelle in a parking lot and that whole sequence is so real and perfectly written that i think i'll carry it with me forever. the rest of the book? thanks but no thanks. especially that ending. fuck that.
