I loved that this book felt like a refreshing escape from the normal structure and narrative that many fiction books follow.
Spoiler I was surprised by most of the book, and deeply appreciated that the magic of this universe was both fantastical and simple, both logical and inexplicable. I found myself confused about the storyline/losing focus frequently throughout the book, which normally would bother me, but it felt like I was experiencing the same thing as the narrator LOL, which I enjoyed. I found the narrator’s genuinely kind soul very touching and deeply enjoyed the process of discovering what had happened. I didn’t realize it was a mystery novel until halfway through which is awesome. The well-established isolated world meant that, with the appearance of each new person or information, it was genuinely shocking. Very interesting and refreshing read.
Also, I pictured The Other as Brett Goldstein.

What a fantastic Read! Although I was slightly disappointed by the Revelation (I preferred my own Theories about What was happening), it was very well executed and engaging. What a World Susanna Clarke created!

The strong plus of this Book is obviously Piranesi himself, who is one of the most precious characters I've met. I didn't want him to lose his Innocence and the Ending was bittersweet, which I love, but it ripped out my heart. The themes broached as we discover the House through Piranesi's eyes are beautiful and it comes down to the very important subjects of Humanity and Nature. The writing style is gorgeous as well and enhances the Story, even if it takes some getting used to (I loved the capitalized Letters).

It is a work of Art.

3.5
This book was very mystical and mysterious and made me feel a lil bit dumb a lot bit, but it was a very quick and fun read once I got into it.
Without saying too much, it follows a young man called Piranesi living in a sort of Greek labyrinth full of statues. I can't really describe the plot without spoiling the entire book, so I recommend just going in blind.
I thought the story was very good and well thought out once it got going, the conclusion was satisfying and the characters were fun to follow. I do think it was a bit slow but it's slowness was not necessarily a bad thing, just a bit hard to get into.
I did also really like the mystery, I wasn't really expecting it so it was a fun surprise. The writing was also beautifully done, and made me very excited to read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell. Unfortunately I can't really give it more than a 3.5 as it didn't really hit me as hard as I wanted it to.
