There wasn't all that much going on in this story, apart from Janessa and Charlie getting it on... for over half of the story, I had trouble feeling like I was a part of it.

Another winner by Miss Dunbar. When I craved for mature romance, I always remember Miss Dunbar's name. She is my go to author for romance over 40. Silver Mayor has the right punch on the characters, story and plot.

Even the story is simple, Miss Dunbar manages to put twist here and there to make me on the edge. I do love the chemistry between the characters. It is sizzling hot.

Overall I do enjoy the book.

This book was so good! I sat down and absolutely devoured every last word.
LB brought out some real relationship battles with this one and she knew exactly how to tie it up.
Fantastic!

I enjoyed LB Dunbar's other series of over 40 romance novels, and Silver Mayor is part of the series that is a spin-off of that series. I have enjoyed reading her books of people who have experienced a lot of life finding that special someone in a new season of life. Charlie and Janessa are entering new phases of their lives, and their meeting is leading them in new directions.

Both Charlie and Janessa have experienced betrayal at the hands of spouses more interested in themselves than in their marriages. Charlie and Janessa have trouble opening up and communicating because of the years of keeping things hidden to present the proper face in public or to their families. Charlie is known as "goody two shoes," deserved or not, but he maintains that image to be the Mayor of Blue Ridge and be a good father to his daughter. Janessa is the daughter of immigrants employed by Charlie, and she is the ex-wife of a professional baseball player. She is working through much while at the same time trying to start a new life with her daughter in Blue Ridge.

Through the book, Charlie is referred to also as Mayor McSteamy. Let's just say that LB does a fantastic job of helping Charlie live up to that moniker. Underneath that conservative suit, Charlie is definitely Mayor McSteamy. He and Janessa steam up the pages of this book quite well. And along with the passion they ignite in each other they build a relationship and blended family. It just takes them both a while to get beyond past betrayals.

There are conflicts, misunderstandings, and humor all through the book. You get the opportunity to glimpse into the happy of Giant and Billy, Charlie's brothers. You also get a peek into the mysterious older brother James, and the story that will unfold there. There are many residents of Blue Ridge that have untold stories. Hopefully, the author will find those tales to share with us.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Silver Mayor by L.B. Dunbar is technically book 3 of the Silver Foxes series. I had not read the other 2 books but excuse me while I rush to get them. Not having read the previous books did not detract from my extreme enjoyment of this book.

Charlie and Janessa meet in an odd way. Little does Charlie know that their paths will be crossing on a regular basis. I completely enjoyed this romance. As a woman of a certain age, I understand that once a relationship is right it's right. I liked their similar romantic background stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the inclusion of their children.

I was slightly confused at the beginning. It seemed disjointed in the first couple of chapters. I also didn't feel the lack of communication between Charlie and his nanny was believable based on Charlie's character.

The ending of this book was so beautiful that I was crying.

I would recommend this book to any reader who appreciates a quick moving romance and characters that are "older".

I love this author’s writing! Just when I think it can’t get any better, she writes another book! This is my favorite in the Blue Ridge series so far. I love that Charlie & Janessa are both single parents & are both a little damaged thanks to their exes. They seem like an unlikely couple, coming from very different backgrounds and heading toward different futures. Luckily hearts don’t listen, chemistry happens regardless of where you come from, and with these two, boy do the sparks fly!!! Their story has everything you could possibly want, love, angst, family & friends(I always like this) and hot & steamy. This is a must read!

This could have been 4stars if maybe 1 or 2 frantic, just one more time, sex scenes were replaced with a conversation. I think these 2 talk in depth once. A few times their insta-attraction bang it out sex was cringy with risk of getting caught (twice in the office, twice in the house with the kids upstairs). I get that they could not keep their hands off each other, and that is hot for 2 characters that came out of crap relationships, but man can you go out on a date? Take a drive? Take the kids out together so you’re forced to talk vs. bang it out with your clothes still on? They both keep talking about how they have so much to lose but never say ‘hey, let’s wait 3 months till the NDA I signed is expired with my ex’. That said, if you want sex in every chapter, this is for you.

Also, Charlie is an idiot with how he ‘handles’ Janessa’s job/project. I could see why she is pissed at him. I don’t think he does enough to make it right in the end. Another reviewer noted that these 2 seem pretty immature and I think that’s accurate. Despite both being married before they seem inexperienced in relationships, but maybe that’s on purpose. Charlie hasn’t dated in 10 years and Janessa was married to a cheating jackass for 10 years.

Note - this town is very white. The heroine, Janessa, is Hispanic/Latinix. The hero initially compares her to Jennifer Lopez. Janessa seems embarrassed that her parents work for Charlie, and he briefly realizes that while he considers them part of his family he’s never included them in anything socially with his extended family though Janessa is immediately invited to his mother’s house. I was glad to see a non-white character in this series, but it felt a little ... clunky or inserted.

Good story.
Older more mature couple.
Both divorced, single parent.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Ex drama.
Her ex shows up asking her to pretend they are still together for media purposes.
Other woman drama, his secretary has designs on him.
Neither the Hero or heroine are interested in anyone else or pursue anyone else.
HEA.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and previous characters from previous books appear.

I received an Advance copy of this from Wildfire Marketing on behalf of the author.

This author has officially cemented herself as my Queen of older person romance. Her stories are so relatable as someone who's nearly in that over 40 age range and they are as sweet as they are steamy.

This is the first book I've read in this series but I need more. And I still want James' story really bad.

So if you're looking for a romance with more mature characters, life and family drama but somewhat light on the overall angst, but heavy on the steam? Then get acquainted with the Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge.
