This is arguably one of the best YA horror books I’ve ever read. The dual timeline is balanced really well, as are the multiple POVs (also, the audiobook is excellent, especially since it’s full cast) and the mixed media elements. I loved that it’s reimagining a classic horror book in a more socially aware way. The only thing I didn’t like is the ending since I was actually rooting for Kendrick and Maddy to be together and it’s never actually confirmed if they are (although I like to think it’s kind of implied). I don’t know if that’s a question that we’re supposed to infer the answer to from King’s Carrie since I’ve never read it or seen any movie adaptations of it and don’t plan to. Either way, would highly recommend.

Spoilerthe fact that Jules lives is a crime. I needed her dead, yet, here she is, living.

In retrospect, finishing the audiobook (HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE AUDIOBOOK) while doing a solo road trip may not have been the best mental health decision but I regret nothing. I'm sad, I'm angry, I'm moved, I'm scared, I'm feelings?!

A really neat twist. You will probably see it coming immediately, but delving into other characters brings a nice depth to it. But why does every book have to have podcasting in it these days? I feel like this would have worked just as well without all the podcast stuff.

This was a really good book. I love how the audiobook used different actors throughout the book. I like that it was modern and included podcast episodes, court readings, articles; the author created a whole world around the story.
It was a really strong story. I feel like the author took a tough subject and created a story that interwove it really well. I like the multiple points of view; I feel like it really adds depth and understanding to each character.
*spoilers ahead* I feel for Maddie and at the end I’m upset Jules gets to get out of the whole situation spreading lies and alive. Which is crazy to say you want a character dead but she was so awful. I didn’t expect Wendy to come through but I’m glad she did. I really want to hope Maddie and Kenny end up together quietly and peacefully.
