I love friends to lovers. It's my favorite trope when the pining it's done well. And in this case, despite it being a short book, the pining is absolutely present. Using love languages to make the LI realize that the feeling are reciprocated was very original and very cute.
I have only one criticism: the part of the plot about choosing a living turkey to k*ll for Thanksgiving made me uncomfortable (at least the possibility of going vegetarian was mentioned seriously and not as a joke, but still it was not nice).

It is a very sweet friends-to-lovers story. With it being a short story we don't get much of Chris & Oliver's backstories. I loved the idea behind it and it was great seeing Chris, carry out his love language experiment on Oliver. They have an amazing friendship and they were both looking for a way to speak their true feeling. Thanks to the love language test, they were able to understand each other better. Then all bets are off and sexy times commence!

Speak My Language (Slow Burn Holidays Book 1) by Nico Flynn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chris and Oliver have been roommates for 5 years and unbeknownst to Oliver, Chris has been in love with him the whole time. After their landlady recommends a book on the 'Five Love Languages' to Chris, he devises an experiment to try each one on Oliver to see if he could possibly share his feelings.

This novella was exactly what I was hoping for, it's sweet, fun and satisfying. It was just long enough to build the story and feel as if you know the characters, but short enough for a one session cosy evening read.

CW: passing mention of drug abuse, grief and death of a family member (all extremely brief)

I enjoyed this friends to lovers at the end of slow burn, when one finally takes some chances. The five year timeframe before story start seems too extreme, to me, but otherwise it's quite good.

Found family
Friends to lovers
Science of love

This was great. I loved every page. There was the perfect amount of build up. I love all the tingly tension, falling too close, fingers brushing. It was perfect.

This was my first novella by Nico Flynn and I’ll be setting aside some time to read everything they’ve ever written.

I really liked the set up and execution of this novella, with the POV character trying different love languages on his long time roommate/crush. It worked great in the short space and I immediately downloaded the only other book out by this author.
