Wow this book was stupid. The characters were shallow and impossible to relate with. The ridiculously convenient ending just pissed me off.

A quick read. Sweet. Ellen's adoration for her Pickle & Monkey make me want to be an aunt.

An uneven novel that doesn't compare to her previous effort, Animal Husbandry. I still think Zigman is one of the more intelligent chick-lit writers around, but it seems she gets a bit lazy with this one. The descriptions of the relationship the main character was in resonated with me more than the whole I-want-a-baby-sooooo-bad stuff, but even so, I was a bit annoyed at how unrealistic things became, particularly towards the end. I will say I was surprised by the ending, but that's just me, once again, comparing it to Animal Husbandry (much better, imho). So if you want the good beach read, go for that instead.

Stupid. I should know better than to read a book because it has a great title. This book's vapidness depresses me.
Beyond that, it's just sloppy. There are a couple of errors in the timeline, and she spelled Danny Bonaduce wrong. Doesn't anybody copy-edit this stuff?

I read this a long time ago and don't really remember much. I do remember that I wasn't too impressed; but then again, I wasn't a fan of Animal Husbandry (her other book), either. Guess she's not for me.

For most of this book I’d give three stars. It’s overall fairly mediocre. But I appreciated the ending, so I bumped it to four.

I think this was the first book by Zigman that I read. I really enjoyed it, and have enjoyed reading it again.

I have no desire to have children and thus, was at a disadvantage with this book. The main character is obsessed with having a child. The fact that she is in a relationship with a man who wants no children, and shows no signs of changing that view, is one of the conundrums of the plot.

I couldn't relate to the main character. I found the story annoying. I found the writing style in which the author repeatedly uses:
Many very short.
Sentences like this.
Over and over.
Again.
to be very distracting. The plot point at the end of the book, which is the catalyst for change in the protagonist's life, I found to be entirely unbelievable. Why not just have her win the lottery? And the last chapter? Total cop-out.

There was nothing redeeming about this book and only an incredibly lazy day got me to finish this book. I was too lazy to start a new one. Not recommended.
