Henry has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic and Grace is not who he pictured as his dream girl. It’s obvious there’s something broken with her - always wearing mens clothes and rarely showering.

So much more to Grace than meets the eye. Henry is so engrossed in her online presence (from the past) that he’s waiting for the real her. He really builds her up in his mind. Grace has been through a lot and it all makes sense how she acts and presents herself.

OMG I didn’t think I was going to like this book as much as I did!! The wit, the sarcasm, the humor between Henry and La and Murray. The dialogue was done brilliantly. I chuckled out loud SO many times! Henry and Grace, Henry and not Grace. This was a deep-feeling story, and though I will not mention spoilers, I’m glad it ended the way it did. A bittersweet, beautifully-broken-and-mended-again story.

henry page is a senior who’s never been in love. he’s fine with focusing on his grades, but then comes grace town, and everything changes. the two are chosen to edit the school paper together and he finds himself falling for her, though he’s not sure if she feels the same.

this may be one of the rare instances in which the movie was, in fact, better. (i watched the movie back in 2020, so i can’t say for sure, but i remember liking it.) it’s really hard for me to pinpoint exactly what i didn’t like about this book, i think it may have been the main character’s stream of consciousness, which of course is an unfortunate aspect to dislike. i did really like the ending, though, and the emotional growth the characters seemed to go through.

Another great read. I watched the movie as well but enjoyed the intricate details of the book. Specifically, how Graces' character was cold but then warm and welcoming to the newness of loving again. She was in so much pain but wanted to have a normal life, be a normal teenager. Unfortunately, without therapy and interventions, she will not heal. This book made me cry for both our heroin and the pain of the hero as well.
