A reimagined twist on the story of Sleeping Beauty. There are things I like and things I didn’t. It was like an equal of the two. Overall, it’s wholesome. A story of a girl who learns to fight for herself by trying to save someone else. It’s sweet, it’s quick. It’s high stakes told in a low stakes way lol if that even makes sense. The multiverse + Sleeping Beauty.

“I hope you find your happily ever after, or whatever.” “Already did,” I say, and it’s possible that my voice is a little gluey, too. “I’m just looking for a better once upon a time.”

It took me a bit to get into this, but in the end quite liked it. I liked the themes - free will, independence - and the deconstruction of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale(s). I did feel at times that the themes and deconstruction could have benefitted from a 'show, don't tell' approach. The length was good, and the second half if much stronger than the first. I didn't care for Zinnia at first, but she grew on me. I wish Primrose had been more fleshed out as a character, but really liked Charm.

Finally read the first novel! It was just as enjoyable as it’s sequel and filled in a few of the holes in plot I was curious about (mostly friends lol). Honestly here for realistic depictions of medical issues and the fun mix of modern and fantasy.
