Why that ending tho… I feel like the plotlines weren’t well incorporated in this book but the character work is so strong and I feel like I’m starting to really care about all of them, especially Fortuna. For all that the story disappointed me at times (I seriously hope she actually hold onto to some important plot threads and fills the new plotholes she’s just created in this one) I’m definitely sticking around to read more.

This series is the first in a long time that made me tear up despite my anti-depressants. Restless Slumber shows us a dark and desperate side to Fortuna that most fairytales would have you ignore, but she does K J Sutton writes it in an artfully intelligent manner.

Yikes. I gave the first book 4 stars, but this was a letdown. 😬 First of all, there's no plot. What is this book about, exactly? Fortuna's werewolf buddy, I guess, and some random old folks she's apparently close to. The entire thing felt like filler.
SpoilerCora's victory over her aunt was ridiculous. We don't get any explanation for how she was able to overpower the alpha. :|

Fortuna's emotions were so volatile and it didn't come across as a reflection of her trauma. She was just written weirdly. One moment she'll be snapping at Collith, then the next she's completely horny? Unprovoked? Like, Collith/Laurie/Oliver will do something completely mundane and suddenly Fortuna wants to drop her panties. She seems to think that cheating only counts if you've had penis-in-vagina sex. The amount of times she mentions her "core" or her "center"......

There were so many typos, along with odd turns of phrase. This was hilarious to me: "I was the fire to his ice. The shout to his whisper. The run to his walk." What kind of analogy is that, lmao 🏃🏽‍♀️ The constant use of "male/female" in place of "man/woman" was gross. When those terms are used to refer to werewolves in their wolf forms, sure, I get that, but Fortuna refers to everyone this way. It creeps me out. Maybe this is a staple in fae fantasy that I'm unaware of, along with the use of the word "mate". I hated that too. I sighed with relief when Collith referred to himself as Fortuna's "husband" for once. 🤣

We still haven't gotten an explanation for why Collith fell for her instantly. I have a bad feeling that will never be explained. I'm putting this series on hold, so I might never find out.
