Fortuna's emotions were so volatile and it didn't come across as a reflection of her trauma. She was just written weirdly. One moment she'll be snapping at Collith, then the next she's completely horny? Unprovoked? Like, Collith/Laurie/Oliver will do something completely mundane and suddenly Fortuna wants to drop her panties. She seems to think that cheating only counts if you've had penis-in-vagina sex. The amount of times she mentions her "core" or her "center"......
There were so many typos, along with odd turns of phrase. This was hilarious to me: "I was the fire to his ice. The shout to his whisper. The run to his walk." What kind of analogy is that, lmao šš½āāļø The constant use of "male/female" in place of "man/woman" was gross. When those terms are used to refer to werewolves in their wolf forms, sure, I get that, but Fortuna refers to everyone this way. It creeps me out. Maybe this is a staple in fae fantasy that I'm unaware of, along with the use of the word "mate". I hated that too. I sighed with relief when Collith referred to himself as Fortuna's "husband" for once. š¤£Ā
We still haven't gotten an explanation for why Collith fell for her instantly. I have a bad feeling that will never be explained. I'm putting this series on hold, so I might never find out.
