MM Romance
Friends to Lovers
2 Stars ⭐️

Not even my favorite side characters could save this one. This was so underwhelming and boring it doesn’t even deserve a review.

Andddd I actually bought it because it was released prior to Blakely putting her books on KU.

Short and sweet, tropey friends to lovers romance. Road trip, snowed in at a cabin. The author successfully managed to make the change from friends to lovers believable (imo the hardest part of that trope).

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

The Bromance Zone is the first installment in the Good Guys series. A friends to lovers romance filled with quick banter and so much emotion.

River and Owen have known each other since college. Back then the attraction was there but neither wanted to ruin a fantastic friend by throwing sex in the mix. They decide to come up with a pact, a sex pact if you will. They will never cross that line their friendship is too important.

One road trip, one snow storm and a gorgeous cabin has the power to change everything. They've both been hiding their feeling for so long and when faced with what's right in front of them will they explore what's always been there or honor their pact?

Relationships have never worked out for these two and Owen has been fighting his feelings for some time knowing he never want to lose his best friend. River on the other hand has an moment where he opens his eyes and all his feelings for Owen slap him right in the face. Once they get out of their heads the sexual tension and heat of this one is a force of it's own. I loved the banter and the realization that they were it for each other. (Can I also mention I absolutely love seeing glimpses of Grant and Declan, they always bring a smile to my face!)

Lauren Blakely writes such emotion into her characters and River and Owen were no different. Getting a sneak peak at TJ has be dying for the next book in the series!!

Cute. Idiotic friends just pine for years until finally actually agreeing that they are perfect for each other and completely obsessed.

Lauren Blakely is one my favorite go-to authors when it comes to romance, and for good reason. She's insanely creative when it comes to the stories she comes up. One of her more oft tapped on romance tropes is friends-to-lovers, and Blakely adds her own twist to it in the first book in her new The Good Guys series. The Bromance Zone features best friends River Michaels and Owen Hayes. For fans and readers of Blakely, River bartends at The Lazy Hammock, the bar he co-owns with Grant Blackwood, and Owen is the public relations guy for the San Francisco Dragons, the baseball team Declan Steele plays for. Yes, that Grant and Declan from the much adored Men of Summer series. That being said, if you're new to this author, you don't necessarily need to read any of the books in the aforementioned series. HOWEVER, it's an awesome trilogy, so GO READ!

I've been itching for River and Owen's story for what feels like forever! In reality, though, it's only been a few months since Lauren Blakely hinted at them getting together, so the wait hasn't been all that long. But that's what happens when two supporting characters are as notable as these two were. I get all eager beaver and need their story ASAP! I appreciated the fact that these two tried their darnedest to stick to their pact, even when they had well-meaning friends making efforts to get them to see that this was one pact worth breaking. The tension was palpable and once the proverbial dam broke, holy hotness! Of course, getting to that happily-ever-after wasn't easy-peasy--communication is key, people!--but I love that Blakely didn't make them--and us--"suffer" too long. The Bromance Zone gets five stars. I can't wait for TJ's story next!

River is one of my favorite characters! The fact that he doesn’t see what’s right in front of him… that Owen is good for him… and not just as a friend, makes me want to shake him! But a road trip, some snow, and a cabin make for some very revealing time for these two!! Can River overcome his fear of losing his friend to have true love? Maybe….

I am not always a M/M fan, but Lauren Blakely’s stories and characters are all so likable and endearing, that i love reading them all. The long term love, and the way her couples are devoted to each other are my favorite.
