Ha-ha! Now we are getting somewhere... I really enjoyed this volume because we got to go back in time and learn more about Tomoe and his history as Nanami tries to find a way to save him in the present, because Tomoe is dying due to a deal he made in the past for the human woman he loved. In the past, we get more hints as to whom this human woman, Yukiji, was. And it’s super interesting because it sounds as though she actually hated yokai. So how does she come to be Tomoe’s lover?? Excited to continue.

i'm so glad that this is actually improving in terms of the drawings, plot development and character depth. and i was so close to dropping this series... the author's growth by the years is so evident that you can see her development when you compare this to the previous volumes. although, it wasn't until vol. 7 or so that the entirety of the series actually improved so if you aren't patient, you will lose interest very quickly. not recommended if you are expecting a plot heavy story as the plot doesn't get complex early on.

Tomoe wasn't in this volume very much, or at least not awake and active very much. It's an important part of the story, but I still wish he was always a main player. I felt the most sympathy for Mizuki that I have ever felt because I realized what a great person his former kami was and why he misses her, and I felt sad for him that he would still do something that might take Nanami away from him just so he wouldn't disappoint her! *sob*sarayellowheart's review against another edition
