Feels unfair for me to give this a rating since I started this two years ago, stopped after a couple of months, and decide to pick it up and finish it a few days ago. Reminded me a lot of the book Wilder Girls that I read earlier this year though! Loved the LGBTQIA+ rep <3

this was fantastic. the writing was beautiful, the plot was so interesting and original. i do think it dragged a little at the end and could’ve been condensed slightly. but i still loved it and thought it was amazing. also i feel like this would be a good movie.

This book was one heck of a roller coaster ride. It is such a mix of genres. I guess I would call it horror with some touches if magical realism. I loved the supernatural and mythological type of elements it had in it. It reminded me a bit of The Raven Boys. I liked that nkt everything was quiet as it seemed. The author did a fantastic job of layering the story and making the characters multi dimensional. I liked that Val had explored her sexuality and her preferences. There are some definite trigger warnings for sexual violence and violence in general.

Not the best book I’ve read, but I liked it enough to finish it. The plot was interesting even with the holes that seemed to pop up every once in a while. I will say that there is lgbtq+ representation and feminist touches throughout the book, so kudos for that. All in all the book is pretty decent.

This is sort of unlike anything I've ever read. Love the horror in it cause it's very committed to and not shied away from art all. This is really dark but also brilliantly written and ultimately about finding inner power from oppressive regimes and the brutality/violence of bullshit patriarchy. Really enjoyed this and interested in reading more from this author.
