This was a thoroughly enjoyable book set in the Victorian time period. It was very fun to read, with traditional Victorian aspects mixed with supernatural elements.

I enjoyed this book but didn't expect it to have that much romance. The two lead characters romantic relationship seemed more physical then mental which bothered me a bit. They either fought or kissed and kept on forgetting the issue in hand and for a guy who has been working as a detective for that long to loose his ish over a woman when people are legit dying seems unrealistic.I also couldn't connect with the characters.
The concept of this book(our world with integrated supernatural being in the early 1900) was very interesting but i don't think i will be continuing on with this series(just not that connected to characters to want to know more)

I read this series many years ago, and it still stands! It has it all: great pace, humor, romance, Science fiction, fantasy and adventure.

This was such an entertaining book. While it took a bit for me to fall in love with the characters and the world, once it did I was hooked and loved every second. Since this is the first book in the series, there is a lot of character development and world development. I think the plot was a little thin in terms of excitement and a true mystery to be solved. However, I loved the relationships that we saw and how they changed, especially with Alexia and Lord Maccon.

I cannot wait to start the next book and see what the pair get up to next. This book was definitely full of supernatural, witty humor and amazing characters.

Fantastic alternate history/steampunk novel set in Victorian England. I'm a sucker for a strong, slightly overbearing, female protagonist and large, gruff men, so this book was a shoo-in. Werewolves, vampires, and Victorian London- how could I not love it!?

Apparently I forgot to mark this finished.

I listened to the audiobook which added even more greatness to the experience. In short, this books brings together werewolves, vampires, mystery, adventure, and strict British propriety. The end result is a delightfully well-imagined world where natural and supernatural beings live in (relative) harmony. And as the mystery builds, Miss Alexia Tarabotti dives into the delightful adventure with determination, intelligence, and a healthy dose of social indignation. This book is fun, funny, and intriguing - an all-around good time.

Haha, vad jag har fått ett gott skratt av denna! Absurdum, te och parasoller, buttra charm varulvar och galna vetenskaps män! Kan det bli mycket bättre- japp vi blandar till lite amorösa scener. Underbar ;)

I really liked the world that the author created. I wasnt prepared for all of the romance but it was fun and I'll look forward to reading more of the series.
