I'm normally not one to read much paranormal, but for Tijan I'd read the phone book. I loved this book so much, I reread it again. I love Shay... I think Kellan is that hot, protective hero we all want for ourselves. Angels and demons, finding the way, family, and love--true, unadulterated love. This is a new favorite and one I'll need to purchase for my keeper shelf. I look forward to seeing if Tijan adds more books to the series--if so, I'l be first in line.

I honestly am not sure what to do with myself right now. I've changed the out of five rating at least ten times while I've sat here, considering how to kick off the review. I'm sure I'll keep changing it as I go on.

This book is an absolute fucking mess. Like, holy god it's an absolute shitshow when it comes to pacing, the characterization of the protagonist is practically non-existent, and the plot is fucking bananas. However, I get the feeling the author doesn't give a fuck if it's good, and maybe that's why, with all that said...I loved it. I will not be putting it on my favorites shelf, I will definitely not be recommending it to anybody I know anytime soon. This book is Not Good. This book is, however, incredibly fucking entertaining and I'm sort of going through an existential crisis as I stare at this review, moving the out of five rating from two to three to four to five, back down to two then back up to five. I just honestly can't believe I loved this book as much as I did and I'm having trouble reconciling it with myself.

So here are some actual thoughts about things in the book rather than a detailed account of me spiraling.

Here's the first thing: even thought Shay (Is that her name? Did I remember it? I am too exhausted with myself to go check if I'm correct to be perfectly candid) is like SCARY fucking quick to get on board with the fact that Kellan, a person she thought was her actual, full-blooded older brother for most of her life, is actually her soul mate who has been posing as her brother to stay close to her and protect her. One of the status updates I made was a few chapters into the book, when it was VERY. STRONGLY. IMPLYING. INCEST. I merely asked, "i...is it kosher to ship this...?" because I was terrified I was shipping incest. Then, not much later, we find that it is kosher to ship this because they are not brother and sister, everybody, it's cool. There is no incest to be found here.

Um I genuinely have no idea where I'm trying to take this. I can't explain myself, I really can't. I would say I'm sorry but I don't think I am, at least not right now. I had fun and FUN/10 = 5/5 to me I guess. I don't know what else to say so I'm just gonna...go...hide in shame. LOVE YOU BYE SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ONE.

Unrelated addendum: This is the latest in a string of books I got because Jorjeana Marie narrated them. This was, by far, the weirdest casting choice I've seen for her. She's usually cast as the sweet girl who lived a charmed enough life until that one thing happened or that one person showed up (see: We Are Okay, Exit Pursued By a Bear, If There's No Tomorrow, and The Boy Most Likely To) so it's a bit odd, having listened to all of those books where she clearly has a type of character and narration style where she fits and blooms beautifully, to see her playing the demon girl who's the most powerful person in her family of demons, has toyed with boys' hearts, and so on. It wasn't a bad choice (especially since I think she's incapable of doing a bad job with anything) just different and interesting. I'd have cast someone like Saskia Maarleveld or Lauren Fortgang, but it was cool to see Jorjeana Marie kind of sort of playing against type here. She also did a good job with Kellan's voice; it really showed off her range. I love her.

PFFFFF

I had the honor to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say, I have been in quite the reading funk where I start something but don't feel like reading it after a couple of chapters. And yes this has happened with authors I love! Im not sure if it is the weather or if I just needed to read a different genre. Well this book drove me out of my funk and I Loved it!

This book is classic Tijan but with a paranormal twist! This is just what I needed. I loved this book from beginning to end and cannot wait to read the next book!

The only thing I didn't care for was classic Tijan is the brother - sister romance. Obviously in all of her stories, they aren't related but it is still odd and I think some people have a hard time getting around that. Please move past that in this book because it was AMAZING!

Oops... Did I give away too much? Guess you will have to read this and find out!
I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens!

I've heard such good things about and have been meaning to read Tijan forever. I'll admit that when I first started reading Evil, I thought it was really weird - not bad weird, just weird weird, - it wasn't enough to make me throw in the towel though. And while it might have started out a lot differently than the paranormals I'm used to, it turned out to be a really excellent read and I'm glad that I took a chance on it!

Evil is definitely one of the more unique paranormal books I've read. It's new and fresh and it will pull you in and have you flipping the pages to find out what happens next. It is full of action, mystery, secrets, and danger. It was one wild ride that I'm glad I was on and I'm looking forward to reading more of Tijan.

Evil is a standalone told mostly from Shay's POV ending with an awesome HEA.

What a great book. I really loved it. Something different, something I feel I haven't read in a while.
I absolutely adored Kellan and Shay, They are adorable and have a relationship/connection like I haven't really read about before.

I really only picked up this book because so far I haven't found a book by this author I don't like, so that was incentive enough to download it, however the blurb was super mysterious and a little unclear about what this book is about, and honestly had no idea what to expect, which is why it took so long to read.

I believe this is a stand-alone which means there won't be another :( - although it did end nicely so I don't mind too much

I will admit I got a little confused while reading this book, and I feel like some bits were rush or skipped over which left me going "lol what just happened", but you can move on from that and get onto the next plot twist (and there were a few)

I also felt like the content in this book could have been stretched over the course of several book, but it's nice that this wrapped up quickly and nicely

Overall L.O.V.E.D. the book. Highly recommend if your in a romantic/paranormal type reading mood

I was so excited to see Tijan was writing a Paranormal story since I'm a big fan of the genre. Sadly this book just didn't do it for me at all. The heroine was supposed to have all these super powers but was so weak and submissive to her brother turned lover. Yes, you did read that right! Their whole life she thought he was her brother and he's actually her mate. I never felt the connection between her and Kellan. She let him lie to her and she would never stand up to him. Many times she said she would address the situation and she would let it go. For someone so strong she was very weak. The storyline revolved around this final show down with her father and it was such a let down. The only thing that shocked me was the part with the Aunt. That was the only time I had an reaction. This story left me with unanswered question and left me confused. This story had so much promise but just didn't do it for me. I loved Tijans "Fallen Crest Series" so I will continue to read this authors future works.
