The action is fun. The emotional stuff is was okay, but too repetitive, which diminished its impact. The ending was predictable (too foreshadowed). I do still want to know what happens though -_-.

One of my favorite authors. K.B. Wagers makes space opera more human. Hail Bristol, former gunrunner, now Empress of Indrana leads with her heart and mind, and only at the last minute, when she has to, reaches for a gun.

This book left me breathless. Even if I didn't thoroughly enjoy every moment of the preceding books (which, to be clear, I did), it would have been worth it just to get to this one.

I think this one suffers the same fate as There Before the Chaos. It's a lot of talking and plotting and not a lot of action. The beginning section is very bleak and quite the downer, but even when it's resolved it doesn't exactly swing into action.

I think it's exciting, gripping and well written. It can't be read as a stand-alone but, if you read the previous installment, it's a highly entertaining story.
Good world building and character development, a tightly knitted and fast paced plot.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Intense but overall good.
I found that Hail's psychotic break went on way too long in terms of how it was represented on page - basically the same interaction over and over again with different characters when we as readers had no reason to believe her version of reality.
