I'm not sure I'm going to continue with this series.

I'm really enjoying the series so far. This time there was three separate stories. The first was about the skin and the unskinned person and how a strange man was talking to them both about combining themselves into one. The second story was about a witch with snakes that involved Emma's friend. Lastly, was about Emma trying to figure out a ghost haunting. Loved all the stories, especially the last one. Graphics are good and this series is definitely for fans of horror.

This volume starts to explore the 'magic' system more which is helping develop this universe.

A step up from the second volume. This isn't a story arc, but a collection of stories. The first is illustrated beautifully by [a:Carla Speed McNeil|63762|Carla Speed McNeil|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1442453177p2/63762.jpg] and returns to the air of horror I appreciated in the first volume. The second story is two issues with the wondrous watercolors of [a:Tyler Crook|4615365|Tyler Crook|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] (the regular series artist) and explores the African American community in Harrow County and a particular woman with a talent for catching snakes. The last story is by artist [a:Hannah Christenson|14151079|Hannah Christenson|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] (who is new to me). She has a scratchy impressionistic style that I normally would not like, but went well with the haunted house tale. I'm still a bit on the fence on this series, but this was several steps in the right direction.

I am always going to complain when an artist is different from previous volumes or even issues, but at least this time I didn't hate it. This volume helped to fill in some side stories and flesh out the world that Emmy lives in. It really shows that there is much more magic than just in Emmy and the "descendants" of Hester Beck (aka Kammi).
SpoilerWho is the creepy man with the pig feet? Who the hell is Odessa? How many witches are there?
The story with the skinless boy was slightly heartbreaking, and raised more questions than answers as he attempts to learn his name with the encouragement of a new face. Bernice is slowly becoming one of my favorite character's and I love to see that she may become more similar to Emmy than she realizes at first. And finally Emmy and her trip to a haunted house. As the last volume showed not all the haint's like Emmy and this volume helps to reinforce that. Looking forward to seeing just how much of an effect Hester continues to have even after her death. ( I don't thin she's actually dead to be honest)

Well, not so great, it's an anthology of short tales until we wait for the next big arch (that isn't filler, come on).

But still, it's good.

Harrow County Snake Doctor Vol 3 showed Bernice getting into the action, learning a new role.  I'm excited to see where that leads.  I like how this book dispells the common perception that the old creepy lady is always bad.  I think Chapter 4 looks completely different than the rest of the chapters, almost like a whole new series.  The ending like a movie.  Looking forward to more of Bernice.
