The more I learn about poverty and racial inequality in the US, the more angry I become with those who are determined to ignore or deny pervasive systemic racism in this country. I can think of 4 or 5 books off the top of my head that are well researched and objectively presented, while showing compelling stories of real people trying and struggling within a system stacked against them even as the popular trope holds that they are lazy or careless or evil.

Goodness, this was intense but so well-written.  I highly recommend it if you want to learn more about poverty and how the systems in place fail to help.
