Apart from some tropes that I dislike (forced proximity, denial) I enjoyed this a lot. Seems the series is ramping up to something more complex and I like the little morels sprinkled here and there for what it's building up to.

Such an intriguing and really great series so far.
The relationship between Malcolm and Yoon is so well done on so many levels. Whether it be their scorching sexual tension, their banter, the way they silently analyze each other and constantly call each other out on it or how well they work as partners, I’m completely in. Looks like they may finally do something about their feelings in the next book. Finally! And I’m nothing but excited.
About the homicide case. So, there were a lot of facets to this case. We have the drug distribution angle. We have an unknown stalker that, so far is more taunting in our lack of info, than anything else. We have Sade, what are they up to? It seems the whole city hates the cops. There’s a lot, and I’m sure McCade will do it all justice as the series progresses.
The descriptions and mood of this world is so vivid and well articulated. Off to read the next!
