I've seen snippets from this series all over Instagram and such this year and finally decided to give this one a try. And, well... To the surprise of no one (aka me) I didn't like it.

If I could have managed to read more or even the entire story I would be able to say definitively that this was one of those "it's me not you" sort of scenarios. And I sort of still want to lean on that for what I did manage to read.

“You’re not my prisoner. You’re my Queen.”

King is the second book in the Alliance series, and I absolutely loved it! There were so many moments that had me laughing out loud. One of the highlights for me was the bromance between King and Nero—it added such a fun dynamic to the story.

I’m totally obsessed with how protective King was over Savannah. And speaking of I loved how protective King was of Savannah, and she completely stole the show as a fierce, spirited heroine. Their chemistry was perfect, and King’s constant support of her art was truly swoon-worthy. Savannah deserved the world, and King’s willingness to give her exactly that made their love feel extra special. Their connection was deep and heartwarming, and I loved it.

Man oh Man! These walking red flags we call men from The Alliance are just perfection! Savannah and King’s story was a masterpiece from the being to the end and I absolutely loved Nero with his witty one liners coming in.

Savannah is on the third date, heading to one of her friends houses only to walk in and find his wife and brother-in-law, who is pure fire, in the living room. When her date fails miserably and she realizes she left her keys at his place, she heads there and sees way more than she ever bargained for. King, believing she could possibly be a loose end, kidnaps her and decides they need to be married.

The story of King and Savannah was all consuming! They have amazing chemistry and balance each other leaving the reader begging for more! I didn’t want their story to end. The way King supports and praises Savannah for her art, he sees her for who she is and raises her to where she starts to believe it herself.

- He gently squeezes my hands. “I wasn’t lying when I told you that the world needed your art. But that wasn’t all of it. I need it, too. I need your joy. I need you to even out the bad things I do. Because with all of this?” He turns his head, taking in my paintings. “The world doesn’t feel quite so awful. So, yeah, Baby, I’m proud of you. And if no one has ever said that to you before, it’s not because you weren’t good enough. It’s because they weren’t.”

Definitely spicier than Dante’s book for sure! While the kidnapping part was a little cheesy, still made for a good book!

The story was only able to continue because both main characters consistently refused to share information that wouldn't have hurt them to share, but would've immediately resolved everything. The miscommunication trope is one of the most frustrating read, but I guess it's one of the easiest to write. The upside is that Savannah as a FMC wasn't pathetically helpless like Payton had been and actually tried fighting back multiple times.

This book was good; but Nero is my favorite at the moment. King was a little bit more relaxed, Nero is a little crazy 😂  this is just my personal preference.

King and Savannah

S.J Tilly might have some of the cutest pet names I’ve ever read. This is the first dark mafia romance I’ve read that left me feeling warm and fuzzy. King is the perfect amount of possessive and obsessed with his wife from the second he said “I do”.
