Dangerous was an enjoyable read and I loved the plot, even though it had many characteristics of the older romances, which I’m not always the biggest fan of. I loved all the suspense and the atmosphere of the book – Quick paints a pretty spooky picture with all the descriptions of the fog and the places characters go to investigate, as well as with Sebastian’s thoughts about pre-dawn time and how it affects him. There is also a lot of subtle humour, which I love and it adds nicely to the more serious parts. Both characters have very unique personalities and they work well together, so it was logical they fell for each other so quickly. Overall, this is everything I love about Amanda Quick--sharp wit, an intriguing mystery, and an electric chemistry between the main characters.

Prue the ghost hunter is a great heroine. I do enjoy how Amanda Quick's heroines never obey anyone but themselves.

It was alright. Though there were some anti- feminist and obsessively controlling comments made that annoyed me a bit.

I really do love a good eccentric character (or characters) in my romances. Lord Angelstone could probably qualify as such, with his penchant for mystery solving. And to that end, his new wife Prudence would qualify as well. Named the season's Original, Prue's hobby of investigating spectral phenomena is unique.

Though I found both of them amusing at times, especially while Angelstone is discovering Prudence's naiveté, I thought that overall they were painted very thinly and wanted more from both of them. For example, I'm not sure how Angelstone earned the moniker "the Demon Earl", nor did I feel any real mystery about him since he was so completely open with Prudence from the beginning. His mysterious/dangerous side is very vague and yet most of the story is wrapped up in his image.

Couple that with the weak mystery and conclusion that wrenches the tell-all from the villain right at the end, and I felt like this was a very mediocre read.

I've read a couple of Amanda Quick's books now, I enjoyed [b:Scandal|367749|Scandal|Amanda Quick|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1339828418s/367749.jpg|2527742], but felt like [b:Ravished|367689|Ravished|Amanda Quick|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1298321910s/367689.jpg|1424708] was as lack luster as this one. I think I'll return to Quick if a particular book is recommended but will not actively seek out another read of hers.

pretty good. it's one of those first novels. Prudence is a typical woman who is intellent, but is also navie about things. Angelstone is the typical male character in her novels. They do make a good couple.

Looved the banter. I liked that Prue saw the best in Sebastian and that he obviously wanted to be better for her. The mystery was intriguing as well.

I really enjoyed the romance part of this book, which was delightful and reminded me of the dynamic in Ravished (an all-time favourite). Prudence was impertinent and quirky, and Sebastian was basically pretending to be a villain but figured out quick that he just wanted to make Prue happy.

The story clipped along at a fast pace, with Prue being an “investigator of spectral phenomena” and Sebastian secretly investigating cases on behalf of Bow Street Runners, and it was fun how they teamed up / butt into each other’s work…

…which is also the part I have mixed feelings about. The big mystery was quite suspenseful, but it was darker than I expected, which tempered my giddiness over the romance.

Overall, it was an engaging read, and probably the one I’ve enjoyed most after Ravished (full disclosure, the other ones I’ve read are Mistress and Seduction).

loved how he fell first but didn’t realize it, and how badly he wanted her to love him as well. he was a sweetheart about her.

love the amanda quick MO… the intelligent heroine and grumpy hero, who admire and respect each other. how the heroine makes the hero a better person by believing in him. and obviously the humor.

in this one, I specifically loved seeing them work together on their investigations and their partnership.
