Another amazing book by Kasie West. I really enjoyed Autumn and Dax as main characters. It was so fun and interesting to see what they do while stuck in the library! At first I was skeptical of this plot point but I loved it (and Autumn + Dax together) when I actually read it. I wish we’ve could’ve had more scenes from them as an official couple!
Autumn has anxiety and takes medication for it. I immediately connected with her because of this. I felt so seen and heard, which is was really special. I’m so appreciative and happy that Kasie included this type of mental health representation. She wrote it in such a positive and respectful way. Dax’s unstable home life situation was emotional and added depth to the story.
I highly recommend By Your Side and I’m so glad that I picked it up at a used bookstore!

Quick cute read that’s predictable and easy to follow along. Kind of slow but it was a good book. I love reading books from this author!

I normally always tend to read kasie west books for a light and cute romance (which I got) but this one also incorporated some themes that I didn’t expect in light, fluffy and innocent romance. anxiety, commitment issues and drug use were fluently written into the story that it felt really nice to know that these topics got representation even in little cute romances.
I would even go so far to say that kasie west might be one of the queens of writing really unlikable characters that progress into really likable ones. I really liked the plot too, being stuck in a library aka the comfiest place in the world and dax and autumn being together and then kind of warming up to each other.
since this book was just somewhat of a distraction (people who read this book, please get the hint) i’m not able to give it more stars but please keep in mind, this book is really cute and incorporates really good issues. however, it is a bit unrealistic but I didn’t really expect more than that since it is a cute little romance written by kasie west.
