Betty Friedan was a pioneer of her time and successfully brought second wave feminism to the world. Yes, the book is outdated. Yes, it focuses mostly on the stories of white, straight women. Yes, the movement has evolved by leaps and bounds since this was written. But women would not be where we are without this groundbreaking work. For a modern reader, the writing can seem repetitive and obvious, but within that context, it was revolutionary. A must read for all feminists everywhere.

I often come back to this book and the concepts Friedan introduces in it. It shows that it was written in the 60s in many ways, but I believe that the ideas discussed within the book hold true to the modern day and are still relevant. Anyone interested in feminism and it's history should read this book.
