This morning as I had six pages left to read, I groaned when my husband called me away from reading “for a few minutes.” He laughed and said “It isn’t like you don’t know how it is going to end!” Ok…truth. But still…six pages left!

Whenever I tell folks that Goblet of Fire is my favorite book in the series because that’s when we first meet Mad-Eye Moody, the sticklers then say “Well, technically
we didn’t meet him. We met Barty Crouch as Moody.
” Yes, if you want to be picky about it. But I still hold firm in my reasoning because, when we see Moody again later,
don’t you think the characteristics held true to Crouch’s portrayal of them?

I’m thoroughly enjoying my return to Hogwarts. I think I found a nice mix this time of rereading these eternal favorites by sprinkling in new reads in between the rereads.

Also, as I said in my other reviews of my recent rereads, I do not agree with or support the author’s views on gender. The stories are extremely important to my own mental well-being and I made the decision to separate the author from the art. However you opted to handle the art & the artist, I respect your choice. And, as I said before: we all need to remember to lead with love. She is a living example of how not to behave.

This book is distinctly less magical than the previous books. It is also the first book of the series that I kept thinking that the movie is better. In part due to the movie seeming more magical and in part due to much of the heavy material being left out of the movie. This book also feels a bit too much let a set up for the next books instead of a standalone story like the previous three.

The bigotry against Muggles and muggleborns is disturbing. More mature content is introduced in full swing including the bigotry against muggles as well as magical creature rights, torture, and a group of evil wizards.

Snape is truly horrible and this book starts to be too much, luckily he isn’t in this book too much. Draco is also awfully bigoted. Both of them are rather disgusting.

There were a couple of plot points changed between book and movie, some are for the best and some changes leave plot holes and questions like how Barry Crouch escaped and why Fudge doesn’t believe the truth. The movie has Neville help Harry which makes much more sense than Dobby helping him. But having Dobby in this book makes more sense for having Dobby in books later.

It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.

Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.
