not my favorite out of the DD series. i personally couldn’t connect myself to the main case character even halfway through. i feel like the majority of the book was filler then the last 180 were when things around the case started to move. the endings of these books always seemed rushed, and while w the others ones im never able to guess the killer, i knew who it was halfway through.

(I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review).

Charlie cannot remember exact details of her childhood with her mother only that her mother was not entirely sane and hurt her and her siblings. After a fire she is sent to live with her Aunt and starts to rebuild her life as best she can. Then the nightmare has started again - 2 years ago her best friend was murdered and the case was never solved. Then the following year to the date her other best friend is murdered and again the case goes unsolved. Now it is another year and Charlie is prepping for the fight of her life.

D.D. Warren is now the mother of baby Jack and is back on the force. She feels something is not quite right with Charlie, but also has another case of young pedophiles being murdered. Like Charlie's best friends, there was no forced entry or much disturbed.

I am a big fan of the D.D. Warren series - she is a realistic portrayal of a female detective in Boston PD. She is ballsy and yet vulnerable. I was not overly joyed with Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant as a main character. I just did not care for her as a character and to be honest hoped she would exit left. I have given this novel 3 starts mainly for the great writing, twists and suspense and b/c of the realistic nature of the novel.

Catch Me
4 Stars

This series has improved in the last couple of installments. One reason is the development of D.D. Warren's character. She is no longer the cold and brash detective with an obsessive need to prove herself but rather a intelligent investigator whose attempts to juggle family life and work make her much more endearing.

The plot is intricate with two parallel mysteries. While both are intriguing and suspenseful (particularly the scenes involving the Internet predators and Charlie's memories of her childhood) ,the threat to Charlie's life takes a back seat to the serial killer storyline, which results in a lack of tension and immediacy. Moreover, the identity of the killer is obvious about 3/4 of the way in mainly due to a dearth of suspects.

The secondary characters are fleshed out well, especially Charlie. Gardner also succeeds in making the vigilante a sympathetic character despite their questionable actions and motivations.

The climax and resolution are satisfying, and the ending made me smile. Another great aspect of the book is the journey down memory lane alongside the characters from previous Gardner books.

All in all, a well written and entertaining thriller with some frightening messages about the dangers lurking on the Internet.

About a woman who goes to the police and tells them she will be murdered in 4 days. This is an entertaining and a quick read. Not too deep or thought provoking, just a good mystery. It did have a couple of surprises at the end.

Wow! Really liked this one. Had enough of DD Warren, but I think more about the main character Charlie. Love Charlie and wanted to know more about her past. The prolog sets the stage, giving you enough to wonder when Charlie is going to figure some things out, and wondering how much her aunt knows. A great page turner. I listened to the audio version and did what ever I could to find time to listen!

I LOVE this series. Lisa never disappoints. Just when I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. I can't wait to keep going with the series. D.D. is maybe one of the best detectives ever.

Sergeant Detective D. D. Warren has a lot on her plate. She’s a new mother, her parents are coming to visit, and a vigilante crime fighter is killing pedophiles in her city. But when a mysterious woman asks D.D. Warren to investigate her future murder, D.D. is forced to add another load to her already full plate.

This book was EVERYTHING. If you're already a Lisa Gardner fan, you will geek out from all the cameos. If you're not a Lisa Gardner fan or you haven't read any of the D.D. Warren Series you'll still be fine (side note: I've read most of this series out of order. IT doesn't make much of a difference).

Once again, Lisa Gardner EXCELS at using multiple POVs to allow the reader to have a well-rounded view of the case without giving too much away. We get to see so many perspectives that it makes the read all the more thrilling. You will be on your toes, and there are some amazing twists. The characterization, immense research (Lisa Gardner is known from her research), and the plot will ensure that you won't put this book down.

Even if you hate multiple POVs in books, give this a chance-- you won't regret it.
