Very good. Badass female MC. I loved learning about the school.

The first half was excellent, the second half lost steam a bit. Romeo's role was a bit too farfetched for me.

Seems crazy that they just let LI go at the end.

I absolutely loved this book. I've always enjoyed stories related to the sea, but on top of that, all the characters were so loveable and well written. The plot twist did get me, even though I really should have figured it out (I suppose that's the mark of a good plot twist). I found that this story was much more character focused than Rick Riordan's other work, so the pace was quite slow and the plot wasn't very complex, but I loved all of the characters so the plot mattered much less to me. Although it's wrapped up quite nicely, there's a lot of potential for sequels and I hope there will be some!

I loved it, so incredible. plot twists and resolutions were *Chefs kiss* not basic or predictable...
I do wish he hadn't slightly over-exaggerated her menstrual cycle and such, I know it is complicated but he played it very unrealistic to me
WHY DIDNT HE DEVELOP THE RELATIONSHIP WITH GEM MOOOORE!!! I needed them to have SOME sort of satisfying romantic twist at the end, I feel like Riordan missed out on that part *sigh*

I had a really hard time getting into this. Honestly the last 80 pages were nice but the rest of the book was so boring and so bland and even the gasp in shock factor moments didn’t capture me enough to keep reading like I would read the gasp moment then set the book down because I simply did not care. This book did not feel like a Rick book to me and it was a bit sad but I didn’t wanna DNF it I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. But I’ve finished it now annnnnd that’s that.

CW/TW: Death of a parent (Ana's parents), implied death (a school falls into the ocean), cancer (one character has pancreatic cancer)
Age Rating: 10+

- I liked the characters. Ana was a good main character. I liked that she reacted to things like a normal person. I also liked that she didn't make silly decisions, even though she had no idea what she was doing half the time. I also loved her relationship with her friends.
- I really liked Nelinha. You know I love a character with an extensive wardrobe (Hi Merlin 👋). Gem was cool. I liked him. Ester was cute. I liked how caring she was towards everyone and everything. She also has a cute dog so...
- The plot was interesting, though it did lull in the middle. There was a big plot twist that I enjoyed.
- I wasn't really engaged until about 25%. I think it was because so much happened at the beginning that I didn't have time to adjust the book's world.
- I thought they used besties/babe a bit too much, but it got better later on.
