I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a freaking awesome pen-pal romance. I absolutely loved this story, it seems like Kat Baxter just knows how to top herself every single time. The story was shortish but still spanned over a few years and in the beginning it was primarily the letters exchanged between Lily and Forest. And I loved those letters, they expressed so much emotion from both characters and I really got to know them. Then they met and I cried. This just took me through so many emotions and I loved it. And I really can’t wait for Linc to get a story.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was so cute! I love being back in the world of Saddle Creek and Lily was adorable with a capital A. This book features one of my most underrated tropes: a pen pal romance. Lily writes to Forest when he's overseas in Afghanistan and the two of them form a friendship through pen and paper. But when Forest comes home, he realizes he can't just be friends with Lily.
The two of them were adorable. I wanted to scream at them to just talk to one another, and when they did it was such a huge relief. Also the Care Bears reference? Guh, my heart. And that epilogue? SO. FLIPPIN. CUTE.
Kat Baxter is always a must read author for me and this newest release was no exception!

Great short read with Lily and Forest exchanging letters...until Forest suddenly cuts contact. Love that Lily is neurodiverse. Highly recommend

Lily’s Forest is a sweet and steamy novella. It is an epistolary romance between a military man and a neurodivergent veterinarian. A large factor in the story is miscommunication between the characters which could have been easily resolved, but they are an interesting couple that meets each other where they are, not where the other thinks they should be. The steam is good and the story is sweet. It is a fun book that I enjoyed.
