I loved Rhys and Delilah's story. In the beginning, they have a love connection that does not go too well. They could have agreed to never be together again, but instead, Delilah coaches Rhys through what to do, and from there, things get better for them. These are not your two not your expected couple but something about them just works!

Arc review:
The introduction to this book initially portrayed Delilah and Ivan in a potential romantic light for a brief period until he quickly dismissed that portrayal. I felt sympathy for Delilah.. especially after a peer, Rhys, witnessed her being rejected romantically, thus starting Rhys' curiosity for Delilah.

Delilah struggles with insecurities regarding her body and appearance fueled by criticism from her own parents and brother. She often projected her low self-worth onto others' perceptions of her when they (sometimes) were unaware that their behavior had such an effect.
Rhys suffered neglect from his mother and abuse from his step father for years after the passing of his father as his mother was incapable of independent parenting in the wake of his death. His older sister was also neglected and shunned due to drug addiction... likely seeking comfort in the wrong places after the loss of their father.
Rhys didn't have a support system outside of his best friend(s). He often felt alone and without direction…... Until Delilah Came along.

It is said that everything happens for a reason... though Rhy's and Delilah's relationship began with bad intentions, I am glad they were able to come together, learn from one another, and grow to understand what healthy love should entail.

They also found community and surrogate family in their peers and friends at school. Sometimes chosen family can provide better support than blood relatives ever could
1 give it four stars because I often questioned the level of supervision and administrative oversight for some of the scenes depicted... It seemed administrative attention was only paid when it was convenient for the storyline. However, I understand the main characters were of adult age... and you couldn't really have a story such as this otherwise.

I'm sorry but no one talks that uptight in high school. The writing and dialogue felt like they belonged on a Victorian romance, not a contemporary high school romance. It was incredibly distracting and made me hate every single word of this book. I couldn't connect to any of the characters and I felt nothing when the reveal happened at the end because I felt no chemistry between the characters. Nothing.
This was my first time reading this author and I honestly don't know if I can do another one. We will see.

This was a lot of fun. Since Rhys was paid at the beginning you knew that a good third act breakup was coming and I loved it so much. The two of them are such an interesting pairing but they just fit so well. His embarrassment after learning he was bad in bed was so funny. He was a man obsessed and everything about it was great. They had such similar backgrounds and are able to understand each other like no one else can.

I received an arc through valentine pr.

I don’t know what it is about Savage River and this little universe of characters that JW has created that makes me love it so much but I really do. I was really excited to dive into the second book of the Savage Academy series and it did not disappoint.

I should not like Rhys as much as I do, especially when he was doing dumb boy things, albeit for good reasons, that you just knew were going to bite him in the ass. He was charming, annoying, kind of arrogant, a bit of dumbass and unexpectedly full of depth, loneliness and pain that I did not see coming after the first book in the series. It was a delight to see his awareness and fascination with Delilah play out. Delilah was so freaking relatable. Strong, fierce, protective and vulnerable. When Rhys’ “secret” came out my heart broke for her especially when she laid out what effect his actions had on her self esteem and confidence in herself. Rhys and Delilah should not make any sense together but every one of their interactions just grabbed me and made want more and more of them. So alike with their belief of their individual “wrongness” and so unexpectedly right for each other. I enjoyed getting to know both of them and the things good and bad that shaped them. I was rooting for them throughout and even when certain stupid choices were exposed it was hard not to feel for them both. On top of the wonderful feels, their chemistry was also just pure

This was a very interesting and fresh story. There's some concepts that aren't explored very often in other romances (the ones I read) and I really loved that about this book.
Delilah started with an infatuation that was quickly quashed by Ivan and although he was one of the best characters in this story, I didn't like him very much at first.  Delilah was a very strong character throughout the story. I liked how she handled the situation with Ivan and also how much sh!t she gave to Rhys.
Rhys was a very interesting character. He seemed very aloof and he seemingly didn't care about anyone surrendering him. Until we learn more about him. He is the type that only lets others see what he wants them to see but he loves and cares very deeply for the ones he deems worthy of his care and love. I loved him once we started seeing his layers and what was hidden underneath that aloof mask we wore, day in and day out.

I really loved the dynamics in Rhys & Delilah's relationship. I loved how Rhys took what Delilah said, about him being bad, at face value and decided right then and there to get better at what he sucked and Delilah was the perfect person for the job. This was a learning experience for both of them that led to a beautiful and deep relationship.
Their sexy times were great but there was something that Rhys really wanted that I wanted too and it didn't happen so I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get it.

Finally, Rhys came up with a plan to get Delilah back after what he agreed to do in the beginning imploded on his face. I loved the various steps he took to get her back. He really put himself out there because that way Delilah  wouldn't be alone in being exposed. I really liked how everything played out and I love Rhys with all my heart although Beckett is still my man... and Luc's. 😌

That Charles guy gave me the creeps every time he appeared on page since the beginning. He was gross to say the least and I'm satisfied with what happened to him.
Also I have a theory about Ivan and I feel like we might have a MM novel in our hands. Pretty please and thank you! 🤗

I'm excited to continue this series and these people and I can't wait for book 3.

This book was fantastic, I loved the beginning with the terrible hook up (how often do we see these in romance books) I was laughing as Delilah avoided Rhys at all costs. Rhys fell for Delilah so fast, he is the definition of a man obsessed and I loved it. He loved her so hard, and didn’t know what to do when his past came and caught up with him.

Ev and Delilah’s twin relationship makes me so excited to see Ev’s books, she is the best character and I know her POV will be so good! Rhys and Delilah have a wild ride, and I so wasn’t ready to finish this book! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
