I love Julie James', and not just because of her nods to Pride and Prejudice. Her characters are fresh and witty - and their relationships are fast and hot.
The second in her FBI/US Attorney series, A Lot Like Love was another can't-put-it-down read that had me literally running to grab a bottle of red from the cellar (gotta love a heroine who owns a wine shop and takes her pretend boyfriend on a romantic weekend to Napa!).
Highly recommend Julie James to any contemporary romance reader.

While Something About You still holds the top spot in my heart amongst Julie James's novels, I still really enjoyed Jordan and Nick's story. It's full of what we've come to expect from a James novel - wit, action, a highly compatible couple and a realistic romance (the latter being something that I find is hard to come by in a lot of contemporaries, and James manages to do it with an heiress for a heroine). I can't wait for Kyle's book!

I'm a huge fan of Julie James and I love the way she strings together these love stories. I also love that you don't have to read all of her books in order, but it's more fun if you do. You're introduced to minor characters in her other books and it's always so fun to get to know them better when they become the stars of their own stories. I gave this book a 4 because it was a fantastic read - it was fun, it was feminine, it was sexy, and it really helped with the PMS filled weekend I just had. Only reason it wasn't a 5 was because I wanted more of a love triangle, but that's just a personal preference when it comes to romance novels.
Rhodes was likable without being too obviously amazing and untouchable (like many female romance protagonists can be) and Nick was grumpy but charming without being the too macho, possessive, stereotypical "hero" type. I thought there was a good balance between their virtues and their flaws, and though this is obviously fiction, I did love that I could see them working well in together in reality. Sure, she's a billionaire heiress but she works hard at her wine store to create her own version of success and would do anything for her twin brother, which makes her connection to Nick more believable, since he's a hardworking, blue collar man who loves his family.
Of course, if this isn't your first JJ novel, you know what you're in for when it comes to the "romance" parts of the novel. And let me just say, JJ delivered. The build up was phenomenal and the sex was deliciously satisfying. I may or may not have re-read those sections because #treatyoself. If you're looking for a believable romance with quirky, sassy, and relatable characters, I absolutely recommend this book and the other books in this series.

This series follows the standard script of romance novels but the writing is very witty. There are many points in the book when I found myself laughing out loud.

A Lot Like Love

Jordon Rhodes will do anything for her brother, including entering into a fake relationship with obnoxious FBI agent Nick McCall. However, when things go south, Jordon and Nick's "romance" develops in an unexpected and potentially dangerous direction.
An enjoyable read that leaves you smiling.
Nick and Jordan are great characters - she is gorgeous and sophisticated but also tough and down-to-earth while he is definitely "Tall, Dark and Smoldering". They have excellent snarky and sarcastic banter, and some seriously hot scenes - Nick certainly knows what to do with wine in a bubble bath. Nevertheless, the sparks were not as intense as they could have been.
The plot involving an undercover FBI agent and a wealthy heiress is a bit cliched but it is an entertaining premise nonetheless. The criminal investigation, on the other hand, is unfortunately lacking in substance, and the wine tasting theme excessively detailed to the detriment of the tension and suspense.
The writing flows smoothly and the pacing is good, particularly the climax and resolution. The next book focuses on Jordon's brother Kyle and I look forward to reading it.

But I decided to give [a:Julie James|1647762|Julie James|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1267631748p2/1647762.jpg] another chance. I must confess, I liked this book much more than it's predecessor. Characters are much livelier and we have better perspective of their feeling and thoughts. Also I enjoyed in verbal jabs and teasing between Nick & Jordan very much.
