I liked this when I picked it up, but it's leaving my collection. While it lovingly recreates the work by Giffen, DeMatteis, and Maguire from their 80's run on Justice League (the wonderful facial expressions, the hyperverbosity, the running comic schtick), this revisiting suffers from two issues, One, it decides to make far too much hay over adult men ogling a sixteen-year-old Mary Marvel. Two, it heavily features Manga Khan and his host of cybernetic life forms, one of the least interesting cast of characters from the original JL run.

Heh. Even though it's not quite as good as "I can't believe it's not the Justice League" (mostly because it lacks Guy), this is hilarious. This includes some of my favorite Booster/Beetle moments plus several really funny (if probably out of character) Batman scenes. Hee. If you like books that have one really silly joke after the other, this is the book for you.

Probably in the line of problematic faves, but no matter how many times I read this, it still makes me laugh.

Light, breezy, fun -- there are worse things for a superhero book to be.
There wasn't much substance here, but there was Booster Gold...so I'm happy.

I loved it when I first read it, I still love it every time I reread it even if it is tinged with a bit of sadness for what my favorite characters have gone through since then.

Lots of meta & jokey self-referential-ness. (Just the way I like it). Batman, who comes in toward the end, has some of the best lines.
