This was rough. Including scandalous things for the sake of having scandal, weak plot twists, flat characters. Just bleh.

I picked this book up after being completely mesmerized by the trailer for the upcoming movie. I will agree with other reviews that not a single character had one redeeming quality to them.....just all around bad people. However, I think that is actually quite realistic. I think the characters in this book could be your nice neighbor or your smiling co-worker and you'd never even know it. Although some of the twists were predictable, I liked the book. It was a nice, quick read.

I found this super compelling and twisty for much of the book. About 2/3 of the way through, I figured out much of where it was going and started to just get annoyed at most of the characters. How sad all their lives are.

Would recommend!

Alternative title: A Simple Bitch. Stephanie is beyond dumb it's actually painful lmao.

This wasn't the worst thriller I've ever read, but it didn't offer anything new or excite me. You can see the twists from the outset, and I wasn't rooting for any of the three protagonists. If you're gonna present me an unlikeable female protagonist you need to go full Gillian Flynn or Samantha Downing, and these gals just were dull as dishwater in comparison.

This was a decently enjoyable audiobook read while I was doing other things, but I only finished it a few days ago and have honestly forgot half of what happened.

Still gonna check out the movie purely for that cast though.

It has taken me so long to finish this book. It was incredibly slow to me, up until the end. The only reason why I didn’t just stop reading it is because I wanted to know how it ended. Then, I decided to see the movie that was made based off of the novel. I’ve never EVER said this before, but I can honestly say... The movie was better than the book.
