This book was crazy good. I was expecting a children's novel but It had the elements of the prestige that I liked. It was well written and kept me entertained. I'm very excited for the next one!

I had fun with the story of the book but the genre isn’t necessarily my thing. I did kind of expect the twists but I think I would have loved this more if I was younger.

My boys (aged 7&9 at the time) really enjoyed this and were eager to find out what happens. Good suspense that kept the pages turning. Likeable and suitably unlikeable characters to love and hate

I thought this book was engaging. The story is somewhat like that of Anastasia (the movie) only it's about a male character.

Orphan Sage is a character you feel for and his training to be a fake prince seems a big and dangerous ask. There is little for me to say without giving plot spoilers. It's a cleverly plotted fantasy and I'll be reading the sequel immediately because I'm too invested in the characters to take a break. The twist in the last quarter of the book is unexpected and upped the star rating for me.

Marketed toward a young-adult audience yet would be suitable for a slightly younger audience too.
