I really loved the previous book, so I was looking forward to this one.
Unfortunately I didn't. The beginning and the ending I liked, everything in between was just bad. I thought Jasper was extremely
toxic (the whole thing with him driving to Vegas out of nothing and coming back expecting Eloise to be home; him talking bs about her parents; ...).
I really hope that Crimson River will be better for me.

The ‘I could listen to them talk forever’ trope has my heart in its clutches and I am SO OKAY WITH THAT. I love Eloise and Jasper. What a match.

Jasper Vale, the book, is beautiful. It lives and breathes “underneath the pretty colours is a really ugly horse”. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, but instead explores the wonder of finding the good in the bad, moving on from hurt and trauma, and learning how to love and believe in yourself.

Eloise and Jasper grew up so differently, both in worlds that should have been ‘perfect’ and yet were not. They came together in their imperfections to teach each other how to live for themselves and I just adored watching them grow.

Devney Perry had me going in the middle there. I was really starting to question my love of Jasper and, even though I understood some of his behaviour, I was getting ridiculously frustrated with him. His journey, most of all, was wonderful to read. To see him accept Eloise’s love and, ultimately, the love of a family was worth every hair I wanted to pull out.

I thought about this book non-stop when I wasn’t reading it. I loved it. It’s beautiful. With that being said, there are some very dark themes in this book and I implore you to check your trigger warnings before reading. Some happy endings come with a pinch of salt, and this was definitely one of those.

Rating: 5/5 stars

Eloise Eden only wants her hotel…but when she drunkenly marries Jasper Vale in Vegas, she fears that her irresponsibility has put her future plans at risk.

Loved loved loved loved loved this. Jasper Vale is a human fire emoji and I’m obsessed. From the first chapter, I loved how he saw and appreciated Eloise and would go above and beyond to keep her happy and safe. And all the “my wife” lines? Perfection. Eloise is also fantastic and easily my favorite of the Eden sisters. Her heart, her capacity for love, and her bravery are just so wonderful and I was so happy to see her evolve through this story arc (and really through the entire series so far).

There was a particular plot element that bugged me a little for personal reasons and almost made this 4.5 stars, but in the end it made me cry, and y’all know the rule. If you’re keeping score, my current series rating is JUNIPER HILL > JASPER VALE > INDIGO RIDGE > CHRISTMAS IN QUINCY (novella) > GARNET FLATS.

CW: Gun violence/injury/death; animal cruelty/death; infidelity

It was a super cute story! It was nice to hear Jasper’s and Eloise’s story. I felt like their partnership was a little random, but I grew to like them. Also, the mystery/intense part felt super rushed. Felt like it was only dedicated 2% of the book too.

Jasper and Eloise are definitely contenders for my favorite Eden couple! Their banter and genuine respect for one another is so sweet! I thought the book was so well done and I can't wait to read glimpses of them in the last two books. My one issue was the unnecessary weird relationship with the ex. He definitely only needed the parents for the plot line to work.

Good addition to the series. Both Eloise and jasper did a lot of growing up in this, it was nice to be able to watch. I’m glad that the move from “fake” marriage to “you’re my wife” was not painful like it is with the trope sometimes. I honestly would have really liked a little more depth with the conflict with blaze at the end, it felt rushed. I also think that the relationship between jasper and Eloise’s parents could have been explored a little more, I would have killed for a sexy protective husband scene where jasper really stands up to Harrison for Eloise and Harrison realizes the error of his ways haha. Overall really cute and sweet, first 2/3 were almost perfect, last 1/3 just felt a little rushed. Can’t wait to read the next installment
