Cute story that most every parent can connect with. Harriet's mother tries very hard to be patient with her when she does things she shouldn't causing accidents and messes, but one time she just isn't able to keep her cool and yells at Harriet -- which she apologizes for. A nice story to read and then talk with children about how we all try hard to be patient, but sometimes fail.

As a teacher, I can definitely relate to this story about a girl who constantly breaks things, gets things dirty, etc. until she pushes her mother over the edge and gets yelled at. The book shows that no one is perfect, we all make mistakes, and it's important to take responsibility and apologize when we make those mistakes.

A book with multiple conversation directions to take: behavior, why we act the way we do, losing one's temper, regretting actions. I can see how this book could be a useful tool to try to explore why kids are acting the way they are, and what if anything can be done to help.
