3/5 a pot smoking easy going guy decides to become a private eye in a effort to save abused children. Had potential but went on too long.

The writing was so good in this book. It was funny and sad and suspenseful and I loved Hardly so much.

Sort of self-consciously noirlike and hard-edged, but a quick read. I found myself wanting Eleanor to be the protagonist, because I felt more connected to her than to Hardly. Enjoyed but did not love.

I didn't figure out what this was, really, which sounds strange. It's funny and frightening and sure it has a plot hole or two but my goodness, I didn't want to put it down. I love the protagonist, I love the characters he meets on the way. Loved the writing. Complete fan of this book.

He's done it again. What if you took a hard-boiled detective novel and then made the PI a hopeless stoner loser with a big heart? Then you'd have this novel! The book is pacey, the characters are all a vibe and the pay-off is perfect.
