Alice in Wonderland reimagination. I like how Oakes utilizes elements of the theme into the story. Cards being sectors and specific roles within the kingdom. I found the reimagination of the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat to be well-done. It is interesting how she converges some elements that Alice experienced with that of the Princess of Hearts. I can definitely see many of Lewis Caroll's Wonderland in here.

Are Wardley or Vittiore to be trusted? What actually happened to the Queen of Hearts? Did she actually die, or was she murdered? Kidnapped?

I wasn't very sure where this book was going to take me but I found myself enjoying Oakes twist in this classic.

It felt familiar and new and that was part of the fun and the intrigue. I loved the twists and turns that this went through, even if I did figure out some plot points before it happened, because of how much I was enjoying this.

It ended on a cliff hanger so I'll definitely be looking for the next book. I just need to know more.
