I have my issues with Julian, but this was one of the hottest books I’ve ever read and I’ll leave it at that

I read this book out of sheer curiosity. Could someone who created Tristan and Jameson Miles and their incredible story arcs really strike gold twice? Here i am, at 2 a.m. and after 5 hours and 450 pages, and I cant even put into words how impressed I am. I had my doubts on this one - the story itself seemed a bit cliche. But T.L. Swan created another whirlwind romance that nailed a perfect 5 rating. I love how she takes her time with her characters, never forcing them into love or life changes quickly. I love how she writes freely and deeply. I love how she creates complex characters who hurt for real-world reasons and are super relatable. Bree and Julian's relationship was perfection. And its truly a given that I will be reading more of T.L. Swan in the future.

I finally read this book! I wanted to read it so badly and a week ago I just said fuck it and bought a copy.
I've heard nothing but good things about Mr. Masters and it was a book with so many of my favorite tropes. I love a good nanny and single patent romance and of course age gap is my favorite so I was super excited to give this book a go.

Mr. Masters is a guilty pleasure kind of book. It's absolutely not a perfect, hell not even a good book, but you enjoy it anyways.
The writing style is mediocre at best, the plot is all over the place but the characters are good.

I absolutely adored Brielle. She was such a bright human with so much love and light inside. I loved her bubbly personality but I also appreciated how determind she was and how she always stood up for the kids and herself.
Also Bree was super nice and lovable, I liked how down to earth she always was.

Mr. Masters was a different deal. He was okay. I really didn't find him special in any way. He was the typical alpha male who always had to be right and thought he was intitled to everything. Plus he was super stubborn and rude.
I don't know what I liked about him. He was nice to Bree sometikes but then in one second he messed it up again.
At the end he changed but I wasn't a big fan.

Will and Sammy were wonderful. They were such a nice addition to the story and I loved all the scenes we got with them.
Sammy was the cutest little angel boy and Willow was such a strong girl. I sympathized with her so much and it made me sad to see her upset. She had to go through a lot in this book.
Brielle's relationship with the kids was so special and I loved their bond. It was so natural and friendly and I loved seeing them happy especially Will. She finaly had someone on her side.

Bree and Julian had such a weird relationship. Their chemistry was through the roof and their banter was nice but their normal romantic relationship was not so great. Julian was manipulating Bree a lot and she always had to back off from the arguments. Also he made her cry so much it was insane.

Another thing that was just really badly done was the plot. This story had no real plot and every single instance where something were to happen we jumped in time and totally oversaw the problem. Like Willow's bullies, we never got to see that handled, then Bree's parents were supposed to visit, it was never mentioned again, also every time someone other than the main characters had a scene it got cut off, like when Bree was supposed to have coffee with Emerson and Will, and actually we got one sentence about Emerson having to leave and going back to Australia. We got no explanation to why that was.

This book had more faults than rights but it was such an enjoyable and quick read. I didn't have to think hard, I just laughed at how hilarious Bree was and how stupid Julian was. I loved the kids and it was just a nice relaxing book.

my ultimate single dad book.

okay hear me out. I have read so many single dad books. that is my trope. I will forever be the biggest fan of those. I don't know what it is, but there is something in those books that make them superior to me. and let me tell you what, even after a year and a half of reading single dad books this is still my number one. Julian is the ultimate grumpy man, and when I mean no one can make him happy I mean it. He is looking for a live in nanny to be able to help him take care of his two kids. And Brielle is up for the job, except that she thinks that Julian is a woman. So much to her surprise, when she is greeted at the airport by Judge Masters, she is in for a rude awakening. She definitely is not as prepared to become nanny of the year or anything, she doesn't even have that much experience with kids. There is a lot of tension in this book, and I am here for it. Brielle is trying to do everything in her power to help and be there, but the oldest Willow is determined to make her life a living hell. She is such an angsty teen and is the complete opposite of her younger brother, Sammy. It was so easy to fall in love with them, and to see their relationship with Brielle grow was so sweet. She deeply cares for them and it was just really beautiful. I also loved seeing the tension that Julian had with himself as he finally let someone in and see him be vulnerable. There was a third act breakup, but i personally don't mind those. This book made me have all the feels, cry my heart out, and also had me laughing uncontrollably. Their epilogue was also something that made my heart swoon. This will forever have a special place in my heart. Also the narration is absolute fire. I'm going to be honest, I re-listen to this book at least once a month because of how much I love their story. forever one of my favorites.

infinity stars / four chili peppers

tropes:
- single dad x she's the nanny
- billionaire
- forbidden
- grumpy x sunshine
- age gap
- boss x employee
