3.5 stars. Slow in many places but the final few chapters make up for it.

An excellent ending to the original story of magic and discovery in Earthsea. As usual, the language is evocative and powerful, the themes are relevant and poignant, and this time there is more intrigue and magic (and dragons!) than ever.

I am always weeping after finishing an Earthsea novel and this was no exception! Le Guin is a master. “Endurance may outlast hope” like ok hit me with that line at a time like this??? I wish I read this series as a child.
