I am the Ghost in your house is one of the books I read during the October Spookathon Binge (this doesn’t exists, I created it lol). Anyway, IMO houses-ghosts is a classic combo that can never go wrong. So my review might be slightly partial. This isn’t your usual ghost story, this is a story of a girl whose is invisible to people around her, things she touches disappears and she can see mysterious objects floating around that no one else can see! Mother and daughter have this invisibility condition. One day when the mother disappears whole, the daughter navigates her life. Truly a brilliant reflection that there is so much more to anything / any person than what meets the eye.

Its an interesting concept that is queer rep, layered, synonymous, and unique! Only minus is for a YA book, I felt it was a bit dense to get hooked to the story. But that could be just me. Also, slowest burner of paranormal books I’ve read.

Thank you Delacorte Press via Netgalley for the e-arc.

I loved the weirdness that this book has to offer. The writing multiple times took my breath away. I became attached to Pie quite quickly and wanted to become friends with her. The stunning sapphic themes throughout this made my heart full. Creepiness and girls in love. All I could ever want.

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ARC provided by Penguin Random House Canada.

Pie has been invisible her entire life, literally. Alongside her mom, they have moved across America, sleeping in trains, mattress stores and other peoples homes, never having a place of their own. But at seventeen, Pie is lonely being in a world where she isn't seen. Together, the two set off to Pittsburgh where Pie dreams of revealing herself to the girl she once fell in love with; unfortunately, Tess has no idea she exists.

I Am the Ghost in Your House is an incredibly unique story about friendship and learning to love yourself when your entire existence feels transparent. I really enjoyed watching Pie's growth throughout the story as she faced her fears and went after the things she wanted. That said, I didn't care for the storyline with her father, it felt unnecessary and I would've appreciate the time spent on it dedicated to Denise, Jules and Neely instead. Seeing them bond is what drew me in the most. The gorgeous cover helped as well. Also, sapphic love.

I do wish there was more of an explanation as to how and why Pia is invisible. The premise behind why it happened to her mother made sense, but I wanted more. Overall, I Am the Ghost in Your House is an intriguing and original piece of writing that I think YA fans would appreciate.

I thought I would enjoy this a lot more than I did. There were elements that I did like but overall, it was kind of meh for me. Denise was probably the best character, tbh. Pie was a bit annoying. I was kind of hoping for more horror elements. Maybe Pie and the others pulling pranks on people? But the whole time Pie was just obsessed with being with someone, which I get but it was her whole personality.
