I couldn’t put this book down! The prose is enticing, the dialogue reads as realistic (with each character having strongly defined, unique voices), and the mystery keeps you guessing until the end. I adore the banter between the two main characters especially, and I hope there’s plans for a sequel.

Highly recommend for fans of The Alienist series, Crimson Peak, and the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes films.

My only criticism is that the book (slight spoilers) introduced a supernatural element at the very very very end, which felt out of nowhere when the rest of the book felt grounded in reality.

I didn't enjoy the paranormal and in general it could've used some editing.  Not really my jam. There's some likability in the writing but overall not really for me.
