I loved the early narration of Hakim's life in Syria. Getting that background of how his life was *before* really helped me connect to his story. No one thinks they will become a refugee - he was a business owner, proud home owner, good son. So many things until they were ripped away.
I can't imagine going through the torture only to then start on such a long, unpredictable journey.

Hakim's story is incredibly compelling & well told. The only thing I could do without is the interjections of the author about himself
