What it's about: A porcelain rabbit toy named Edward Tulane and his adventures after he is thrown from a cruise ship.

Why did I read it: It was recommended to me.

Favorite idea: “Edward knew what it was like to say over and over again the names of those you had left behind. He knew what it was like to miss someone. And so he listened. And in his listening, his heart opened wide and then wider still."

Of all the classes I’ve read this too, my current first graders loved this the most. Such a beautiful story that talks about love and loss in a way that is so accessible and relatable for kids (and adults). My love for this book truly knows no bounds.

I hated Edward, heart broke for Bryce. Beautiful illustrations. Read this while hugging my battered 28-year-old stuffed bear. Would not re-read this myself or to anyone, because rather depressing.
