We all know the story, and in one way or another we kinda know what's coming. However, Marissa takes the story of Little Red riding hood and makes it her own.

I didn't expect to finish this book in one reading, but I finished Scarlet in less than six hours. Which is a record, since I became a painfully slow reader over the years. So, let that thought sink while I told you about this story.

If you liked Cinder but didn’t feel like continuing reading The Lunar Chronicles, then let me tell you: Reconsider. The curse of the second book does not apply here.

Scarlet starts where Cinder left us, but instead of focusing only on our favorite android, we get to meet Scarlet, a young pilot who works as a delivery girl for her grandma’s farm. Everything is sweet, chill and chevere until one day her grandma goes missing and no one in her small provincial town wants to help her because they claim she was a crazy old lady, and the only person who is willing to help her is a shy stranger named Wolf.

We get to know more about the world that she shows us in Cinder, making it feel more real little by little, after each page.

The dynamic between Scarlet and Wolf are wholesome, and cute since they are a great team that respect each other and learn a little bit of one another on the way to find her grandma. Which had me on edge, because I suspected what was coming. And oh meu deus, I didn’t expect that turn to be as intense as it was (or maybe it was just me being dramatic, so if you read Scarlet, tell me how you felt after reading the start of the third act).

And if you are asking, what about Cinder? Didn’t the series start with her? Let me tell you about her. She is worried about a certain prince, while running for her life in the company of a rogue spaceship cadet. And believe me when I tell you the dynamics between these two are hilarious. Meeting Thorne is definitely one of the best things that could have happened to Cinder, even if she doesn't know it yet. Her first human friend. I love that idiot with all my heart, and I’m sure you will too.

Thanks for reading!

**minor spoiler warning**

This was fun and the perfect pace for me. Not to fast or slow. It kept me engaged without wanting to put it down! I loved the first book Cinder, but it was slower then this book because of world building and foreshadowing so with all that done this book definitely picked up and I loved it!

My only disappointment was Cinder and Kai were separated for the whole book :(

This one is a bit hard to get through because you don’t know any characters at the beginning!

I did not care for Scarlet and Wolf nearly as much as Cinder and Kai. Their story was a little weirder and a bit more boring, but still entertaining and enjoyable. I did enjoy the furthering of the main plot, and I'm glad Iko is back.

The ramp began to lower off the cargo bay and Iko chirped, "You two go off and have fun now. I'll be sitting here, by myself, all alone, checking for radar interference and running diagnostics. It's going to be fantastic.

Adorable Iko even when being sarcastic. I really hope we find out who programmed Iko's chip as she displays a very human personality. I sense it may be the experimentation of a particular scientist, and feel there may be more to Iko in future. But, that may be my wishful thinking.

We get more of Cinder's story, more about the Lunar Queen's army, and Scarlet & Wolf's story.

This retelling of Little Red Riding Hood was not as good as Cinder. In this book a particular couple fall for each other, with such intensity, within a few of days... it's not inst-love that bothers me, but when it occurs under incongruous circumstances. I can kind of see that trust, but then kind of don't too. Hence a dropped star from me.

Still a great addition to the series and I'm looking forward to more.

Started slow and wasn't sure I liked Scarlett but she grew on me and the story was worth the slow start.
